Behind SeaMiLeS is me, Karolina
A fashion designer, a little weirdo, an adventurous soul full of wonder, inspired by life, travel, nature, and the sea.
Growing up on the Adriatic coast, I was surrounded by the sea, by nature, and by a family that found beauty and inspiration in everything. Ever since I was a barefoot little girl, enchanted by the sea, I gathered shells and all the shapes the currents carried to the shore, letting the sea and nature shape my creativity, my identity, and my path as an artist.
I've always been amazed by the stories behind shells and sea creatures. This passion, along with people's interest in the pieces I wore and made for myself, slowly and spontaneously grew into creating for more ocean souls like me.
How it all started
It all began on my travels. Long hours spent by the shore, running my fingers through the sand and listening to the rhythm of the sea, I gathered little sea treasures the waves left behind. After the trip, I would start creating and every piece brought back the very same emotion of that moment.
In the beginning it was something just for me. I started making shell jewelry to always keep a trace of these magical places with me. A memory of a certain beach, a surf spot, a sunset, that feeling of freedom. Each piece was more than jewelry to me, it was a story, a memory, a connection with the ocean. Then people started noticing, asking about them and finally wanting them. Soon enough I was not only traveling, surfing and moving along the coast on my own but I got to meet those beautiful ocean souls and share the story with them. Somewhere along the way it just became more than something personal.
I remember one morning when I was surfing in Indonesia, waiting for a wave, just floating there and looking down. The water was so clear and calm I saw this whole underwater world beneath me, all these colors, corals, fish, even a turtle moving slowly through it all.
It's hard to put into words what I felt in that moment. I felt a kind of magic, something that left a deep mark on me. I'm telling you this because moments like these are exactly where the inspiration for my work comes from, through my travels and experiences like this, I shape my art. The heart of this story, and of the brand itself, is that I want to share that same feeling with you, those colors, that calm, that story of the ocean, turned into something you can feel too, connect with, and continue.
And now I'm sharing this with you, the SeaMiLeS brand I dreamed of since I was little is here. After so much work and following my vision, it all somehow came together. And my greatest treasure is you! So thank you, thank you for being here and reading this. Thank you to my family, my friends, my boyfriend, and all of you wonderful people who supported me from the start. You believed in me and my ideas, stood by me, and became part of this story. I'm endlessly grateful, because without you it wouldn't be the same. I love you!
And now SeaMiLeS is here, still moving, still growing, still shaped by everything the tide brings in along the way.
And I honestly don't know what the next piece will be… we will Sea. ;)
Every shell I find already has its own story. Shaped by currents, time, and the energy of the ocean. And now it's up to you to keep the story alive.
